Anton’s day technically starts the night before, when he sets his alarm based on his schedule for the next day. Whether he’s working from home or heading to a client site, Anton’s mornings begin with a wake-up call about ten minutes before his first meeting. If it’s a home office day, this usually means an 8 or 9 AM start, with a bleary-eyed rush to wake up and get his computer ready just in time.
On home office days, Anton's morning starts off with a bit more relaxation. After his initial meeting, he takes a quick break to make coffee, have a cigarette, and check his emails. The emails often lead to a series of phone calls, stretching until midday. His home office routine is interspersed with small tasks, each requiring a level of attention that keeps him occupied but not overwhelmed. Lunch is an informal affair, often forgotten unless someone reminds him. The afternoons are generally calmer, spent working through remaining tasks or handling any last-minute issues that arise.
When Anton is working at the office, his day mirrors his home office routine but with a bit more structure. He’s more punctual and diligent about getting up and out the door. Meetings and calls dominate his schedule, and like his home office days, lunch can often slip his mind unless a colleague steps in to remind him. The afternoons at the office are spent catching up on work, often pushing right up until the end of the day.
Client visits, however, are a different beast entirely. These days start early, with Anton traveling to meet with clients, often finding himself reliant on the knowledge of a single, often elusive, expert. These days are packed with meetings and problem-solving sessions. If he has a week on-site, the first day is usually spent understanding the scope of work. If time is tight, he scrambles to gather the necessary information and often finds himself chasing down multiple people for answers.
Lunch is a hit or miss affair. On days filled with back-to-back meetings, Anton sometimes skips it entirely. When he’s working at a client site, lunch only happens if a colleague insists. His meals are simple and quick, often just coffee and cigarettes in the morning and a proper meal only once or twice a day.
Afternoons are generally more relaxed. The bulk of the workload is tackled in the morning, leaving the latter part of the day for tying up loose ends. However, about half the time, especially at client sites, something urgent will pop up an hour before the end of the day, extending his work hours well into the evening.
Evening routines vary. If Anton finishes early, around 5 or 6 PM, he avoids starting any new tasks. On days that stretch longer, especially when he’s on-site, his workday can push past 7 PM. The journey home is a chance to unwind, often involving calls with his friend Michi to discuss the day or any pressing issues. Michi’s responses range from half-asleep mumbles to engaging conversations, depending on the time of day.
Anton’s days are a blend of structured meetings, spontaneous problem-solving, and the occasional chaos brought by client visits. His routine is flexible yet demanding, shaped by the unpredictable nature of his work and the constant need to adapt to new challenges. Whether at home, in the office, or on the road, Anton navigates his day with a mix of diligence, improvisation, and a touch of humor.
